Tourism Panel on Climate Change (TPCC) publishes first Horizon Papers
(Published November 21, 2022)
The Tourism Panel on Climate Change (TPCC) has published its first ‘Horizon Papers’; one on the topic of reducing aviation’s greenhouse gas emissions, another on the financial resilience of tourism organisations affected by climate change.
TPCC’s Horizon Papers are leading-edge think pieces to stimulate critical exchanges at the intersection of climate change and tourism. They are commissioned from recognised experts in the field and are peer-reviewed.

Unprecedented Tourism Panel on Climate Change unveiled today at COP27

- The ‘Foundation Framework’ for the Tourism Panel on Climate Change (TPCC) announced during COP27.
- Created by the Sustainable Tourism Global Center, TPCC will develop indicators to accelerate tourism climate action.
- TPCC will advance tourism’s progress towards Paris Climate Agreement goals.
Experts to unveil Tourism Panel on Climate Change (TPCC) at COP27

- Leading experts of the new Tourism Panel on Climate Change (TPCC) will present its ‘Foundation Framework’ during COP27 in Egypt.
- Created by the Sustainable Tourism Global Center, TPCC will provide objective metrics to accelerate global climate action in travel & tourism.
Holidays for the visually impaired: Seable runs crowdfunding campaign

SUNx Malta concerned about transport emissions
“We need to reflect on transport emissions and align them with a climate-neutral 2050. Emissions must hit net zero by 2050 to limit global warming, to survivable levels. They must also peak soon, with a 45% fall by 2030 and a basic requirement of a 1.5°C scenario for 2050.” So says SUNx. Newsletter sign up.
SUNx Malta to launch pod at COP 27
SUNx Malta will launch a new podcast series at COP 27 in Egypt. The pod will be hosted by Ged Brown, Founder of Low Season Traveller, and will feature SUNx President Geoffrey Lipman. Prof Lipman will be attending COP as an Envoy of the Sustainable Tourism Global Centre, Saudi Arabia.
COP27 edition of SUNx’ ‘eXist’ out now
eXist, the monthly e‑bulletin of SUNx Malta, is out now. It’s the “COP27 edition” with the Climate Friendly Travel Registry and new podcast series in the spotlight.
Khiri Travel is hiring, publishes 2023 travel guides
Khiri Core is seeking a sustainability coordinator and a marketing executive; Khiri Indonesia needs a product/account manager; Khiri Vietnam wants a reservations executive; and Khiri Cambodia could do with an operations coordinator. ‘Khiri Pulse’ podcast heads to Sri Lanka
Khiri Travel’s podcast Khiri Pulse is in Sri Lanka this month, discussing the local cuisine as well as how to motivate the younger generation to work in hospitality.
Culinary cultural exchange in Rwanda
A volunteer from CC-JOBS foundation recently visited the Red Rocks Intercultural Centre and joined the local community in a cultural exchange program focusing on local culinary arts. Both organisation “strive for social development for local communities with the local communities”. Red Rocks on Facebook.
Join Red Rocks’ community development education programmes
Journey into the remote villages surrounding Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda, as you learn how locals preserve their natural and cultural heritage while building better lives. Valencia to host summit on cultural heritage in tourism
The World Tourism Association for Culture and Heritage (WTACH) is organising “the first global summit focused on Cultural Heritage in Tourism” to take place September 24 – 25, 2023, in Valencia, Spain. Event information and registration will be hosted on WTACH.org in the coming weeks.
Greg Bakunzi appears on ‘Five in Five’
Red Rocks Rwanda and Red Rocks Initiative for Sustainable Development founder Greg Bakunzi has appeared on WTACH’s ‘Five in Five’ interview.
The importance of good partnerships
To help you navigate dire straits, take the temperature in an uncertain climate, and keep your head when all about you are losing theirs, it’s wise to seek out partners who make you their priority.
