The Oganisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) defines inclusive growth as “economic growth that creates opportunity for all segments of the population and distributes the dividends of increased prosperity, both in monetary and non-monetary terms, fairly across society”.
When referred to by The “Good Tourism” Blog, inclusive tourism means the same as OECD’s definition of “inclusive growth” as it pertains to the tourism sector.
Elsewhere the term is often used interchangeably with “accessible tourism”, which is confusing. The term should also not be confused with “all-inclusive tourism”, which relates to the practice of bundling all (or most) of what a tourist might need for their holiday — their transport, accommodation, meals, tickets, passes, et cetera — into a single package.
