Edwin Magio

Edwin Magio is a PhD Research Stu­dent in the School of Events, Tour­ism, and Hos­pit­al­ity Man­age­ment at Leeds Beck­ett Uni­ver­sity, UK. His doc­tor­al research exam­ines “the power dynam­ics influ­en­cing tour­ism” with­in Kenya’s Amboseli Bio­sphere Reserve.

Before start­ing his PhD, Mr Magio was a Com­munity Enter­prise Devel­op­ment Man­ager at Eco­tourism Kenya. Before that he was a teach­ing and research assist­ant in the Depart­ment of Tour­ism Man­age­ment at Moi Uni­ver­sity, Kenya. As a Com­mon­wealth schol­ar at Leeds Beck­ett Uni­ver­sity, UK, he attained a MSc in Respons­ible Tour­ism Management.

Edwin’s teach­ing and research focused on the areas of rur­al tour­ism, con­ser­va­tion, socioeco­nom­ic devel­op­ment, tour­ism and the envir­on­ment, envir­on­ment­al impact assess­ments, tour­ism policy and gov­ernance, and des­tin­a­tion man­age­ment.
