What will the ‘Tourism and Climate Change Stocktake 2023’ reveal?
TPCC’s Tourism and Climate Change Stocktake will assess progress on tourism sector climate action and provide insights for tourism policymakers and stakeholders.
During a rigorous 10-month process, more than 60 leading climate scientists and tourism experts from around the world contributed to the Stocktake.
The Tourism and Climate Change Stocktake 2023, through its 24 key findings, will reveal strengths and weaknesses in tourism climate adaptation, emission reduction, policy, finance, and capacity building.
Its central message is that the whole tourism sector needs to “go further and faster” in its response to climate change.
The tourism sector must act decisively to accelerate climate action and forge new, stronger international climate policy and finance collaborations.

About the TPCC Tourism Panel on Climate Change (TPCC)
The Tourism Panel on Climate Change (TPCC) is an independent body of more than 60 climate scientists and tourism experts who will provide a current-state assessment of the sector and objective metrics to public- and private-sector decision-makers.
Launched at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) in Sharm El-Sheikh in November 2022, the TPCC’s mission is to inform and rapidly advance science-based climate action across the global tourism system in support of the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement.
Inspired by the IPCC, the Foundation of TPCC was supported by the Saudi Arabia-based Sustainable Tourism Global Center (STGC) as an independent and impartial, science-based programme to strengthen tourism climate action across the world.
