Culture & heritage focus for first “Good Tourism” Insight Partnership
The World Tourism Association for Culture & Heritage (WTACH) is the first “Good Tourism” Insight Partner. As a “GT” Insight Partner, WTACH will inspire deeper industry-wide conversations around culture & heritage tourism.
WTACH will regularly identify and invite an opinion or practice leader working in the area of culture & heritage tourism to write a “GT” Insight for publication by The “Good Tourism” Blog, the increasingly influential publisher of think pieces about the travel & tourism industry.
“GT” Insights are original posts by academics, experts, and practitioners keen to share their insights, expertise, and experiences for the benefit of all travel & tourism industry stakeholders.
The first “GT” Insight to be published under the auspices of “GT” Insight Partnership is a reflection by WTACH President & CEO Chris Flynn on why he founded the organisation and why he believes it behoves travel & tourism industry stakeholders to pay attention and get involved.
“There is a growing gap between the aspirations travellers have to experience authentic cultural heritage and the ability for the industry to deliver to that demand,” Mr Flynn said.
“It is both a massive challenge for the industry as a whole and a massive opportunity for individual destinations that get it right.
“It’s also why partnering with The “Good Tourism” Blog is attractive to us, for it will take a thoughtful multi-factorial approach from multiple stakeholders within destinations to prompt any sort of proactive planning.”
The “Good Tourism” Blog is offering “GT” Insight Partnerships to leading not-for-profit organisations working in other important topic areas, such as host community infrastructure, climate change, and children and young people.
I am grateful to Chris and the WTACH Board for their early support of this initiative. To position “GT” as a hub for deep insights on what “good tourism” means to various stakeholders, the website needs to more regularly publish authoritative original content on important topics such as culture & heritage tourism. So I asked for help and WTACH said “Yes”!
“GT” Insight Partners have the opportunity to lead discussions in their respective topic areas, but they by no means get to monopolise them. It is only through challenging each others’ ideas that we can come up with better ideas. It is a “GT” policy that anyone may constructively comment on a post, submit an idea for their own “GT” Insight” or sponsored post, and join the growing list of “GT” Friends.
The “GT” platform is open to all and open for business.
